About Us


The American Association of Teachers of Spanish & Portuguese (AATSP) is a national professional organization for educators which promotes the study and teaching of the Spanish and Portuguese languages and their corresponding Hispanic, Luso-Brazilian, and other related literatures and cultures at all levels of education.

AATSP-MN is a state chapter whose mission is promoting the Spanish & Portuguese languages and cultures, supporting educators, and recognizing student excellence through various events in the state of Minnesota

The group is lead by an Executive Board (Mesa Directiva) which meets monthly during the academic year to conduct business related to the running of the organization and plan workshops & events.  Meetings are open to members and the minutes published monthly.

Membership


Membership in the organization is managed through the national office of the AATSP.  It is open to all persons who support the teaching of Spanish and Portuguese from pre-kindergarten through graduate school.  Chapter membership is included as part of the membership with the national organization.

There are six
types of membership:  Regular, Student, Joint, Life, Emeritus, and Honorary.  Dues depend upon the type of membership for which a person qualifies.
