Each year, the national AATSP organization sponsors a Poster Contest that is open to K-12 Spanish and Portuguese students whose teachers are current AATSP members. The posters are a demonstration of student understanding of the importance and uses of learning new languages and an excellent project for Hispanic Heritage Month and Foreign Language Celebrations! A theme is announced in both Spanish and Portuguese. Students design a poster based on the theme using any of the approved media. Winners are selected from state chapter entries and prizes awarded around the end of May. Student work is displayed online and at the national convention.

The AATSP-MN chapter encourages its teacher members to organize a lesson or project where students can express themselves artistically. Students compete in one of four categories based on grade level: K-3, 4-5, 6-8, and 9-12. Teachers have until March 1 to select
up to three winners per category and submit them to the chapter's Poster Contest Coordinator. The AATSP-MN Executive Board will select up to three State winners per category and forward them to the AATSP national competition. State winners will also be invited to our annual Awards Ceremony in May to be recognized and awarded plaques or ribbons for their achievement.

During the past few years, many of our State winners have been selected as National winners. Check out the links above to see examples of State and National winners.
